DOCTOR OF DIVINITY- (HONOR'S CAUSA)
Kenneth Oswald Smith (May 9, 1994)
Regent College celebrates its twenty-fourth annual Convocation by awarding the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree to Kenneth Oswald Smith.
Mr. Smith received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from UBC before earning the ARCT certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
He was part of the original Planning Committee for Regent College in 1967, and a member of the original Board of Governors. Since 1969, Mr. Smith has served more than 16 years on the Board, plus much time on the Senate and various committees.
It is on the occasion of honouring Mr. Smith with this degree that we recognize him as one who, by his life and faith, exemplifies the ethos of Regent College integrating his Christian faith in all that he does. For all who know him, it is powerfully evident that there has never been a distinction between his faith and his life— integrating his faith in the church, in his family, in his business or marketplace ventures, in his volunteer and philanthropic activities, and in his everyday relationships. Kenneth Smith is one who we are able to hold high. We honour him this evening as one faithful to the call of being a regent of our Lord and King effective in Christian service in all of his life.
